There is something about the combination of a crop top and pencil skirt that makes me feel extra feminine. Crop tops highlight the small of the waist which gives the illusion of an hourglass figure and pencil skirts skim over the curves of your lower half. Last summer, crop tops and pencil skirts were all the summer style rage and this year they are still going strong. One of the things that I love the most about combining these two pieces is that they achieve a sexy and subtle look because they cover up your skin while giving the illusion of a body con dress. Wearing fitted clothing does not have to be uncomfortable or constricting. For example, the crop top and pencil skirt that I am wearing in these outfit photos are made of a stretchy, form-fitting fabric that allows me to show off my shape while still feeling comfortable.
For this crop top and pencil skirt look, I decided to combine a neutral colour, grey with a bright pop of colour, fuchsia. Instead of wearing two bright colours together or two neutral colours together, I decided to combine the these two colours in order to give the look dimension and interest. If you are interested in wearing the crop top and pencil skirt look, you can try wearing an on-trend denim halter-style crop top like this one with a black pencil skirt or you can wear a bright yellow crop top with a matching yellow pencil skirt, similar to this style. When combining two different colours together in one outfit for optimal style points, consider colours that complement each other or a monochromatic look. Both are fool proof ways to put together a stylish look. Other than following my style rules, experiment! Part of the fun of creating an outfit is trying different colours, prints and styles before settling on what looks best.
For my accessories, I decided to go with bright colours like my green mirrored sunglasses and green and pink pyramid necklace. These colours contrast with the colour of my skirt and complement the grey shade of my crop top.
