GUESS Summer 2014 Collection

You have read about the preview and now here is a peak at the Look Book from the GUESS Summer 2014 Collection! The two themes of this collection: Sunbleached Safari and South of France are presented to you right here in clothing form so you can now admire each and every item as you visualize how you would like to wear the collection this upcoming summer! According to the Groundhog, we won't be seeing springlike weather for another six weeks so I suggest you take all the time you need to look at the carefree, summer-y clothing below.

If the model in the campaign looks familiar that is because she is Canadian-born model, Danielle Knudson. The 24 year-old up and coming model also made an appearance at GUESS in Toronto's Yorkdale Mall a few weeks ago for a meet and greet as guests tasted yummy sweet treats, took Valentine's Day themed photographs and shopped Marie Claire's Looks to Love.

Amanda's Fashion Spot Grammys Award Red Carpet Fashion Favourites!

The Grammys is the music industry's biggest night where talented musical artists come together and are awarded for all of their achievements over the past year. Out of all of the award shows during the exciting and glamorous award season, it is The Grammys that tends to be the most edgy and risk-taking. Remember when Lady Gaga arrived to the red carpet in an egg or when Nicki Minaj arrived in a red Versace cloak? My favourite red carpet looks from this year's Grammys aren't quite as daring but they are just as memorable.

Scroll down to see what I am referring to!

Ariana Grande in Dolce and Gabbana

The young and very talented singer Ariana Grande wore an age and red carpet appropriate on-trend tea-length dress by Dolce and Gabbana. The asymmetrical neckline add a hint of maturity while the floral print keep the dress sugary sweet.

Bonnie McKee in Gustavo Cadile

Bonnie McKee went for a futuristic and fashion-forward look that was out of this world in all the right ways. Her geometric mirrored clutch mirrors the shape of the neckline (pun intended) and the sheen on this deep blue Gustavo Cadile gown compliment her bright red hair.

Kelly Osbourne in Badgley Mischka

While watching the E! News red carpet special, I learned that Kelly Osbourne's Grammy look was inspired by her father's Grammy-winning band, Black Sabbath. The Badgley Mischka gown is every bit gothic with the long-sleeves and cape-like piece in the back of the dress. The embellished shoulder pads add a touch of glamour that make Miss Osbourne look like a modern day, fashionable Elvira.

Pink in Johanna Johnson

The "True Love" singer wore a beautiful red dress with panel details by Johanna Johnson. Simple jewelry was all that this look needed as the dress speaks for itself.

Rita Ora in Lanvin

Shimmering, shiny with a dose of metallic green is what makes Rita Ora's Lanvin Grammy dress. The knee-length, long-sleeved dress is fun, youthful and works wonderfully with her platinum bob.

Amanda's Fashion Spot Concert Ready Looks!

Last week I had the pleasure of attending a concert by one and of my favourite singers, none other than Justin Timberlake! From his N'Sync days to his first solo album Justified to his hilarious comedy sketches on Saturday Night Live and now his latest album, The 20/20 Experience, I have been charmed by Mr. Timberlake since a teenager. While preparing my outfit for a night of dancing to "Cry Me A River" and "Suit & Tie" I started to think about what essential items would create a look that is suitable for a concert, items that when worn together instantly say, "concert ready". Of course, when putting together a "concert ready" look wearing a concert T-shirt is a given, but there are definitely more fashionable pieces that make your outfit just right to wear at your favourite musical performance. Having a "concert ready"look goes beyond the outfit, it includes your make-up as well and the right beauty look is the cherry on the sundae of a perfect "concert ready" look.

Scroll down below to see the what pieces I consider to be essential elements of a "concert ready" look!

1. The Sequin Blazer

Source: Pinterest.com
Source: iclothing.ie
Over the years, blazers have become a wardrobe staple for most girls. They are figure-flattering, can be worn with a multitude of outfits and sometimes function as a light jacket in the spring and fall. Sequins are synonymous with fun, parties and happy times, making them a special event staple whether they are on skirts, dresses, handbags or blazers! The marriage between the two staples creates an essential piece for a "concert ready" look. When you are dancing away and getting lost in the music at your favourite concert, the sequin blazer will compliment your shape and look glamorous at the exact same time! Sequin blazers also look great when worn over a concert T-shirt.

2. The Quilted Bag

Source: daintygirl.com
As you are enjoying yourself while watching your favourite musical artist perform, the last thing you want to do is search through a large, clunky bag as you look for your camera phone because you want to capture the moment for your Instagram page! A small quilted bag is the perfect size and style for a "concert ready" look because it allows you just enough space for your cash, lipstick, keys and phone (and just enough style to make your standout in the crowd).

3. The Shiny Leggings

Depending on the musical genre of the concert that you go to, you may feel inclined to wear loose fitting pants. However, if you want comfort, style and something that does not run the risk of getting trampled on when you are twerking away (jokes!), then I suggest wearing shiny leggings as they are fun, edgy and, somewhat simple, all in one. Shiny leggings also would work well with a loose-fitting concert T-shirt, sequin blazer, quilted bag and the beauty looks below!

4. The Bold Lip

Source: pinterest.com
The bold lip is classic and statement-making. With such a strong shade on your pout, your entire look will definitely be taken the next level. You can either go with a red or pink shade and if you want to be a bit daring and on-trend, try spring's tangerine lip.

5. The Smoky Eye

Source: theyallhateus.com
Sultry, mysterious and, transformative is what makes the smoky eye a staple for so many women. With the swipe of some dark shadow across your eyelids, you can go from a day look to a "concert ready" look in a few minutes.

When creating your beauty "concert ready" look, I suggest wearing either the bold lip or smoky eye separately and not together as it will look a little too glamorous. As much as I love glamour, sometimes it is best to rein it in a little bit.

What do you think of my essential items for a "concert ready" look? What are the essential things that you like to wear when going to a concert? Let me in the comments below, Facebook and Twitter! Also, don't forget to check out Amanda's Fashion Spot on Pinterest and Instagram!

Amanda's Fashion Spot Valentine's Day Style Tips!

Source: Pinterest.com

Valentine's Day a.k.a. the day of love when people everywhere express their love for their partners and friends, is only a few days away. When you think of the colour of love and passion, the first thought that comes to mind is redWhether you are taken or single, it is always fun to get in the "festive" spirit and wear the colour this strong colour. The first colour of the rainbow is known for temporarily intensifying physical reactions and is sometimes a recommended colour to wear not only during dates, but also at important interviews and meetings because of its associations with leadership and power. Red also makes an impact when worn on your lips - in fact in the days of the Roman Empire, lipstick was worn as a way to denote social status for both men and women!

However, this blog post is not about lipstick - even though I do recommend wearing it on Valentine's Day - this blog is all about what to wear on the 14th of February. So scroll and take a look at my some Valentine's Day style tips!
1. Valentine's Day Outerwear.
Source:luulla.com

When you are with your sweetheart celebrating Valentine's Day, it may be cold outside but the fire of love will be burning between the two of you and your outerwear will be sizzling with a bright red coat. A bright red coat is great way to make a statement while the snow is falling and although it is not conventional, try shielding yourself from the white fluff with a chic, statement-making umbrella. The above pink umbrella from Raindrops that states, "Merde Il Pleut"is the French phrase for "S--t, it's Raining"  and is a cheeky accent to a standout bright red coat.

A little bit of glamour is suitable is every outfit and works especially well when paying tribute to the love in your life. The fur coat in this inspiration photo (not sure if it is real or faux, I suggest faux) is two of my favourite things: stylish and practical because it will keep you warm enough when you are outside with your honey and keep you looking appropriate when you dining out on your dinner date. Wearing a fur coat on a Valentine's Day date is a win-win and when worn with a red handbag along with a tinted ombre umbrella by Fulton from Raindrops it is sure to standout.

A jacket with a touch of leather and a pop of red presents a look that is both edgy and sexy. Despite the mainstream popularity of leather over the past few years, leather is still affiliated with bikers, punks and rockstars which is what makes the jacket in this inspiration photo perfect for a hot, sexy Valentine's Day date. Once the snow starts to fall when you head home after your date, shield yourself with this Pasotti Black and Red Dahlia Umbrella from Raindrops, the colours compliment the jacket perfectly.

2. Wear the pants this Valentine's Day - literally!
Source: artsymphony.blogspot.gr

If your Valentine's Day plans take you some place that involves live music, DJs spinning their tunes or a hip lounge, then coated jeans are the way to go! Much like the leather and red jacket in the inspiration photo above, oxblood coated jeans exude sensuality and toughness - in a stylish way of course. As you are enjoying your Valentine's Day date and dancing away to the sweet music, keep track of time and look chic with the addition of a beautiful watch such as this Fossil one from WATCH IT! in the photo above. The pink colour on the face of the watch is suitable for the warm colours of Valentine's Day and the gold is right on-trend.

It may not seem that way but oxblood coated skinny jeans are very versatile. From cobalt blue to radiant orchid to blouses, blazers, chunky sweaters and vests, oxblood coated skinny jeans have all it takes to be your go-to jean as they work with almost every fashion look under the sun making it an ideal option for your Valentine's Day festivity outfit. To complete your look, add the gold chain Karl Lagerfeld watch from WATCH IT! in the above photo to your outfit. The shade beautifully compliments the oxblood shade of the skinny jeans.

3. If the shoe fits, wear it with a skirt this Valentine's Day.

Skirts - especially skirts with pleats - are coquettish and make even more of an impact when they are red. Wearing a red skirt during your Valentine's Day celebrations is a flirty way of showing your sweetie that you in the mood for love. Pairing your skirt with a nice pair of heels such as this pink cutout style by GUESS (photographed above) is a great way to kick up the style factor of your playful Valentine's Day outfit.

If a below the knee skirt is more of your style (and F.Y.I. they are a hot trend for Spring), then a chunkier heel with a some additional coverage at the toe is a great style option such as the GUESS shoe above. Coupled with a printed top and ladylike clutch, you have an outfit that will make you ready for a night of being wined and dined.

4. Fit and Flirt for Valnetine's Day

Many have credited Monsieur Dior's "New Look'' collection with the modern fascination with the fit and flare silhouette. During the second world war women became accustomed to wearing utilitarian styles and box-like silhouettes but when Christian Dior's new collection was presented, we saw shapes that celebrated the female form. Ever since, the fit and flare shape has become a go-to style for women everywhere as it is figure-flattering on a myriad of shapes and can look ladylike, flirty, professional or sexy. The fit and flare is a silhouette chameleon and when worn with small love-themed accessories, it can look feminine and elegant. The red GUESS handbag photographed above is a good choice to team up with your fit and flare look for Valentine's Day as it is a great size and the studs help juxtapose the at times dainty fit and flare look.

Simplicity is sometimes all that you need. This silver bracelet Hillberg & Berk with a heart charm that has the clean statement of love is a lovely piece and when worn with the fit and flare silhouette it creates a look that is two of a kind.
