Amanda's Fashion Spot Golden Globe Red Carpet Fashion Favourites!

Award season has begun! After a long year of crazy fashions, critically-acclaimed television shows and hit movies, actors, actresses, writers and, directors alike congregate to celebrate all of their achievements over the past year. Coupled with the celebratory time of awards season is the red carpet. The red carpet is a place where the stars wear the fanciest of gowns and we all get to talk and write about it! To kick off the official awards season we have the Golden Globes, a glamorous night that celebrates television and film stars.

Below are my favourite fabulous looks from the night! Scroll down and enjoy!

Emma Roberts in Lanvin

Little black dress this Lanvin gown is not, oh no! This dress is a big black dress or more accurately a mermaid-style, off-the-shoulder simple gown that makes a statement! I believe that the statement is a marriage between elegance and glamour. The aqua chandelier earrings are a youthful and chic way to add a pop of colour to the strong gown.

Kate Beckinsale in Zuhair Murad

Metallics never get old (scroll below for evidence) and they tend to look their best when used in simple silhouettes, case in point the Zuhair Murad mermaid-style gown that Kate Beckinsale wore as a presenter at the Golden Globes. The simplicity of the mermaid silhouette compliments the charcoal harlequin-esque print of this dress very nicely.

Margot Robbie in Gucci

One of Hollywood's newest It-Girls and co-star of Wolf of Wall Street wore this modern yet simple gown that has just a touch of glamour with the jewel details. The long cream colour and subtle thigh-high silhouette make this gown reminiscent of a Grecian gown.

Olivia Wilde in Gucci

For anyone who is pregnant and ever has the opportunity to attend a lavish affair and is unsure of what to wear, just look at the this stunning, sparkly number! I understand that not all pregnant women would feel comfortable wearing something in the vein of this emerald sequin Gucci gown but when you are expecting a new born, there is nothing wrong with showing off a little bit of your style. If you are not pregnant, this glittering green gown would look equally as good.

Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein

Sometimes an understated, well-fitting gown is all that you need and I would venture to say that Mr. Calvin Klein would agree with me! *wink wink* This beautiful gown does not require statement-making accessories or an eye-popping handbag, with its striking aqua shade and perfect fit it stands strongly all on its own.

New Year, New Fashion: Can you GUESS what is in store for style in 2014?

It is almost two weeks into the New Year and have you kept up with your style resolutions? If you find that your motivation to keep up with your style resolutions is dwindling, here are a few tips to make sure that you stay on top of those New Year's goals:

1) Write down each style resolution on a piece paper and put it in a pretty frame. Then, place the frame in a highly visible spot to remind yourself each day of the fabulous outfits that you plan on wearing throughout the year.

2) Gather all of your favourite magazines and cut out images of the most fashionable outfits that represent your style resolutions. Use those images to create a style inspiration board that you can place on your wall to motivate you each time you get dressed each morning. Another option is to create a Pinterest board completely dedicated to all of those chic stylish looks that you will be wearing and sharing via Instagram all year long. #ootd

3) Check out the latest collections from your favourite fashion designers and brands to provide some wardrobe inspiration. As each season changes, so does the clothing that is available from the fashion companies that we know and adore. As a fashionista sometimes there is nothing more exciting than seeing what retailers and designers have to offer each season. Seeing a new fashion collection every few months is almost like Christmas several times a year! If you haven't ventured out into the stores just yet, then I suggest that you take a look at the GUESS Spring 2014 collection below. It may not be spring yet but a girl can dream right? Also, the benefit of seeing the collection that is heavily-laced with denim with a few leather pieces thrown in, is that you can start planning your wardrobe right now! Without further delay, scroll down below to look at the latest and greatest pieces from the Spring 2014 collection from the little rugged, on trend and always sexy GUESS!

Varsity jackets made a huge splash last year and from the looks of it, they are here to stay. Styled with a a denim jacket, body suit and super sexy leather shorts, this is certainly a new way of wearing the sporty Varsity jacket. And I like it!

Polka dots will never go out of style and there is something about them that has such a distinct 1950's feel. This polka dot blouse is lightweight and has a cute little tie in the front, which is a nod to the crop top trend that will continue to reign this spring and summer.

Denim blouses are slowly becoming a wardrobe staple and a more casual alternative to the classic, crisp white button-up. When paired with these sleek leather overalls, the denim blouse adds a whole new meaning to classic American workwear.

While skinny jeans dominate most of our wardrobes, sometimes it is nice to change it up every once in awhile. Wide-legged jeans have a seventies vibe that is fitting with the light, carefree energy of spring.

Layering is always important as the weather changes because one day it can warm, and one day it can be cold. A black shiny leather vest like the one above will add a stylish edge to just about any outfit.

Overalls are no longer reserved for little kids and construction workers, oh no. Overalls are now sexy and stylish, even being worn by fashionable stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Alexa Chung. This pair incorporates the distressed denim trend.

What do you think of the 2014 spring collection from GUESS? Which are your favourite looks? What are your New Year's style resolutions?
