Summer Music Festival Fashion

We are in the middle of the summer, which means longer days, brighter skies and warmer temperatures - the perfect recipe for a summer music festival! Lucky for us, there are three summer music festivals this upcoming long weekend: Drake's OVO Festival, Montreal's Osheaga and the country musical festival, Boots and Hearts. Over the last few years, music festivals have become more than just watching the musical performers. Music festivals have become somewhat of a fashionable affair with concert goers strutting up and down the grassy fields in striking festival fashion. Each musical festival has its own distinct style that makes the music festival experience that much more memorable - whether it be a floral headdresses at Coachella or rain boots at Glastonbury. Like the musical festivals before them, OVO Festival, Osheaga and, Boots and Hearts have certain style staples that will keep you enjoying the music in style all weekend long.

Started by Toronto's very own Drake, the OVO Festival has been going strong for the past few years. The surprise guests at each festival such as Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z and Kanye West, have made the event a summer must-see musical happening for concert goers alike. The relaxed vibe of the Molson Amphitheatre, the resident venue of OVO Fest, and the awesome music calls for a look that is equally  relaxed and awesome. Using Rihanna's a.k.a. the former Bad Girl Ri Ri outfit as inspiration I suggest that when attending OVO Fest wearing distressed jeans are the way to go, such as this pair by GUESS. A pop of colour adds to the fun factor of the look like this yellow polka dot top also by GUESS, is a fun summertime choice. Like most summer music festivals, OVO Fest occurs when the sun is still shining and a cool pair of black aviators like the one above from WATCH IT! will do just the trick when you need to protect those peepers. As I mentioned many times before, time flies when you are having fun but just in case you need to keep track of the time the above watch from WATCH IT! with its aqua coloured face is a nice contrast the bright yellow top.

2. Osheaga Style

The popular Canadian music festival held in Parc Jean-Drapeau Montreal attracts some pretty cool performers from OutKast, Flume, Lykke Li, London Grammar and Skrillex making it a major attraction for music lovers. Unlike Coachella, the style at Osheaga is a little more varied ranging from hippie style peasant blouses to brightly coloured printed skirts and dresses. Whether you attend one day or all three days of the concert event, I recommend wearing something comfortable and colourful such as the above dress worn by one half of the Beckerman Twins and this floral dress by GUESS. To accessorize, throw on a matching yet edgy fringe bag such as this one by Manitobah Mukluks, plastic-rimmed super-trendy mirrored lens sunglasses and a sleek watch from WATCH IT!.

3. Boots and Hearts Style

If country music is your thing, then the Boots and Hearts festival is your jam. This year, the country music festival is set to have sexy country star, Blake Shelton, the popular Luke Bryan and the all male group, High Valley. Country music style is all about denim, denim, denim whether it be short shorts a la country music superstar Carrie Underwood or the currently trendy overalls such as this pair by GUESS. A bustier style top like the one above from GUESS with a tiny floral print adds to the fun, sassy country music vibe. This leather-looking bag from BRIKA and long strapped watch from WATCH IT! play up the rugged country music feel and have you fitting right in when you are grooving to some country music!

All of that standing, walking, dancing and partying at the music festivals can take a toll on your tootsies and as we all know ladies, no outfit is complete without shoes. However when attending a music festival, I recommend wearing comfortable shoes with style. Check out a few cozy footwear styles below!
