As I have mentioned many times before, some of my favourite pieces in fashion are the pieces that are both functional and fashionable. We all need to wear clothing and shoes that serve a necessity whether it be, keeping us warm in the cold months and keeping us cool in the warm months or making sure that our feet are comfortable. For those that are creativity inclined, it is important that said items also have a fashionable flair, and that is why I am happy to share the recent shoe collaboration by Burton and Manitobah Mukluks. Burton, a world-leading snowboard brand has joined forces with Manitobah Mukluks, the Aboriginal-owned Canadian company, to produce their first ever women's collaboration for Burton's winter 2014 line entitled, the Memento - a mukluk-inspired snowboard boot (check out the photo above).
The Memento is inspired by the authentic mukluk boots by Manitobah and features a classic rolled toe design complimented by an eye-catching fringe and floral trim. The design of the snowboard boot is based on the Annie McKay Storyboot, which was designed by the late Annie Madeleine McKay of the Misipawistik Cree Nation and will not only look attractive but will also provide high performance in all snow conditions (including, the crazy ones that we have been having lately!) thanks to Burton's Women's-Specific True-Fit Design.
If you plan on taking advantage of the winter snow and are heading up North anytime soon, pick up the Memento at select stores across Canada and online at manitobah.ca for $279 Canadian.
