Amanda's Fashion Spot: 2013 Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashion

January has arrived and you know what that means? It is awards season! That's right, it is the time when Hollywood's creative talent ranging from television actors, Hollywood stars, comediennes and, musicians come together to celebrate their career successes and hopefully pick up an award or two. This past Sunday, the Golden Globes aired and for us fashion-minded folk, the most exciting part of the award show was watching what the celebrities were wearing as they walked down the red carpet.

Read on to discover my favourite looks from the 2013 Golden Globes:

Although I am typically a dress girl, I do love a menswear inspired look every once in awhile and Amy Poehler's tuxedo suit sans blouse was no exception. Accessorized with simple diamond jewelry and classic red nails, this outfit was a chic mixture a feminine and masculine style.

If you are frequent reader of this blog, then you must know how much I love sequins! Jennifer Garner's Vivienne Westwood Couture burgundy sequin gown gown is simply romantic. The rich colour is beautifully enhanced by the sparkle of the sequins and the gathering just below the sweetheart neckline gives the dress a soft, relaxed touch.

Jessica Alba's look at the Golden Globes was every bit Old Hollywood glamour. Although this is a look that is repeated by every Hollywood starlet at some point in her style career, it has yet to lose it's lustre. This mermaid-cut Oscar De La Renta coral gown has a nice sheen that allows it to standout without competing with the feathered orange clutch and gorgeous statement necklace, creating a balanced and dare I say, glamorous look?

Kate Hudson must have been on to something at the Golden Globes. The simple silhouette of this Alexander McQueen black gown, that is adorned with gold ornate detailing, is quite similar to a lot of the other looks that we saw that night. Just take a peak below! And I for one am not complaining. In a sea of voluminous gowns that frequently float along the red carpet, it is nice to see a change every once in awhile! This particular look is slightly reminiscent of the gothic Victorian era while ironically being a little sexy at the same time!

Ahh embellishment and embroidery! Two of my favourite fashion techniques for they have the ability to take a simple look to the next level of stylish. Nicole Richie dazzles in this baby blue Naeem Khan gown that with a high neck, long sleeves and simple accessories speaks for itself!

Olivia Munn's look is simple, elegant and youthful all at the same time in this Giorgio Armani column gown. The slim silhouette is reminiscent of a Japanese kimono and the sea foam green colour of the bodice adds an element of freshness!

This year it wasn't just the fashion that caught my eye, but the hair and beauty looks as well! Scroll down to check out my faves!

At the Golden Globes, Adele wore her signature beauty look which is a retro hairdo, cat-eye eyeliner and nude lips. Almost every time we see her it never changes and why should it? It suits her beautifully, and if ain't broke, don't fix it!

Long, cascading waves had Amanda Seyfried resembling a modern and relaxed version of Goldilocks! Her hair looked soft, shiny and youthful, perfect for a rising Hollywood star.

I love a smoky eye especially the brown one that Julianne Hough wore at the Golden Globes because it is a softer way to wear the classic black shadowy look. It is always nice to see new interpretations old favourites.

Like Jessica Alba and Amanda Seyfried, Megan Fox went for the cascading waves hairdo. I love how this look is parted to the side, giving it a seductive Jessica Rabbit vibe.

Zooey Deschanel wore an adorable (and not at all adorkable) flirty ponytail accented by softly parted bangs. I just love seeing new and innovative ways to wear the good ole' staple. The fun and easy look of this ponytail is reminiscent of Reese Witherspoon's Barbie ponytail that she wore at the Oscars a few years back.

Who says it is only the girl's that get to have all the fashion fun? At the 2013 Golden Globes the boys pulled out all the stops and looked every bit handsome and then some. With their bow ties, slim cut suits and shiny lapels, Ben, Hugh and Bradley were all winners in my book, whether they took home a Golden Globe or not!
