What's in a name?: Yves Saint Laurent to be renamed Saint Laurent Paris

Hedi Slimane has recently been named the new creative director of the iconic French fashion design house, Yves Saint Laurent. In an effort to put his stamp on the legendary label he has decided to rename it Saint Laurent Paris, just in time for his Spring 2013 collection. Despite this change, the famous YSL logo will remain on the brand's variety of products.

After hearing this, it made me think about the importance of branding and how much iconic brands are changing everyday. In a world where everything seems to be changing with communication becoming easier and easier through social media, the growing popularity of ebooks and the world of fast fashion, do you think that iconic labels need to "get with the program" in order to move with the changing pace of the world or should iconic labels stay the same?
