After New York, Paris, London and Milan, Canada's biggest celebration of fashion has arrived! That's right ladies and gentlemen, LG Fashion Week is here and off to a fashionable start. After taking a sneak peek at the latest collections, I must say that this is my favourite Toronto fashion week thus far. The collections look much more cohesive and the tailoring is incredible with a dose of some amazing styling.
Take a look below and be inspired one of my favourite looks from LG Fashion Week so far:
Fan favourites and the brains behind the seams, Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong, presented a nomadic collection filled with velvety textures, rich tones of forest green, royal purple and deep blue, obi belts and pompoms brooches to boot. Cinched waists complemented Japanese kimono-style sleeves while draped dresses accessorized with soft knit jersey scarves brought out the relaxed downtown girl in all of us.
My favourites include a long purple (so far the colour of LG Fashion Week) v-neck gown worn with an oversized grey sweater with a fur trimmed collar (far left photo). This look embodies that glamozon look of the seventies that is so on trend this spring with a carefree bohemia vibe. This look also shows you that it is ok, make that very ok, to wear a shorter jacket with a longer gown. How modern.
The middle look is a shiny slightly pleated velvet cape in a deep forest green with a large fur grey scarf reminiscent of a classic middle-aged fairytale. I could just see this look on a young woman making her way through the forest on a cold evening except in modern times, you would be wearing it making your way through the city after a fabulous night on the town.
The third look on the far right, shows you how to add some flair to a thick and cozy cold weather dress. In deep blue this above the knee dress is adorned with a multi-coloured pompom brooch and thick obi belt. Add an oversized bag and you are ready to run your errands on a cold autumn day!
Kudos to Kirk and Stephen on a cohesive and inspiring collection this season!
