Alex and Ani: Spring Has Sprung And It's Time To Feel Good

After a long, harsh and cold winter where walking down the street was at times difficult due to the heavy snow and strong winds, sometimes you just want something that makes you feel good. For some it is an experience that makes them feel good such as, the shining sun, curling up with a cup of tea and a good book or catching up with friends. For others, it is something more tangible that makes them feel good such as a nice piece of jewelry, that is where Alex and Ani comes in. A positive energy lifestyle brand, Alex and Ani creates charms and distinct bangles that add the right amount of sparkle to any outfit that you pair them with and can be layered or worn on their own. Can you say arm party? In with the spring coats, light weight dresses and, stylish sunglasses! With a new season comes the need for new accessories and if you are looking for a quick update for your spring wardrobe, a new handbag is the way to do it! In your busy life where you are dashing between lunch, work and, personal obligations, a fresh handbag is a fashion necessity. After all, where else will you keep your smartphone, lipstick, keys and cash?

Scroll down to see some of the hottest handbag trends for spring 2014!

1. Bucket Bags

The shape of the bucket bag is part structured and part relaxed. The bucket bag works well for the times when you are off duty enjoying the ease of the new warm weather and meeting with friends for brunch at the hottest, new breakfast restaurant. Bucket bags are perfect for carrying all the little things that you have to carry when your plans call relaxing and chilling. Add your bucket bag to an outfit consisting of a structured jacket, full scarf and trendy booties or wear it with a moto jacket, pleated skirt and chic sunglasses.

2. Floral Clutch Bag

One of the first signs of spring are the beautiful flowers that bloom in gardens all over the city. The bright colours of the blossoming plants add colour and dimension to the great outdoors and with floral handbags being a hot trend for spring, you will now be able to 'carry' flowers with you wherever you go! Floral clutch bags work best when worn to semi-formal or formal occasions such as weddings, engagement celebrations or dinner parties. The floral clutch also looks super chic with a collarless coat and A-line dress or you change up your outfit by going for masculine meets feminine look and wear it with a studded moto jacket and sheath dress.

3. Structured, Ladylike Bag

Structured, ladylike bags have the ability to add a prim and proper element to just about any outfit whether it be a loose button down blouse with skinny jeans or flowing dress with a cropped jacket - the structured, ladylike bag has a very strong effect on any outfit that your pair it with. This spring structured bags were shown in a multitude of colours from metallic shades, reds, fuchsias and beiges which means that no matter what you plan on wearing in the fresh, bright outdoors, there is a structured bag just for you.

4. Pastel Bags

Pretty pastels are the colours that come to mind when we think of spring, a time where a soft palette of delicate shades paint flower petals, Easter eggs and French macarons. This spring, pastels will be found in more than nature and food as pastel handbags are a top trend for spring. Pastel shades just can't help but boost the fresh, daintiness in an outfit and they look best when paired with neutrals such as, grey, beige or tan or mixed together in one outfit. If you plan on giving a pastel bag a whirl this spring, try wearing a lavender one with a soft grey sweater and yellow pleated skirt or wear a mint coloured one with a cream coloured blazer and an animal print pencil skirt.

5. Carryall Bags

If a dog is man's best friend, then the carryall bag is every fashionably-inclined woman's best friend. A carryall bag is large in size and has the ability to carry everything from an iPad, books, magazines, a smartphone, water bottle and wallet all at the same time which makes it that go-to bag that feels like relying on your best gal pal whenever you wear it. Lucky for us all, carryall bags are a hot handbag trend for spring and versatile to boot - ready to be accessorized with all of your spring outfits this season.
